Who is Ambient Alchemists?

ambient /ˈambēənt/ adjective – Relating to the immediate surroundings of something – think ambient temperature, lighting, and music.
ambient music /noun/ – A genre of smooth, largely electronic instrumental sound, free from a persistent beat, designed to evoke or enhance a specific mood or atmosphere.

alchemist /ˈalkəməst/ noun (plural: alchemists) – A person who transforms or creates something through a seemingly magical process.

At Ambient Alchemists, we are inspired by the ancient art of transformation. Our logo is influenced by Bismuth Alchemy and is modeled after the Bismuth Alchemy symbol.

Bismuth Alchemy Symbol

“Bismuth, a metallic element linked to the alchemical element of Earth, represents both physical and mental stability. It is thought to connect the material world with the spiritual, symbolizing transformation and balance.”

We embody this philosophy in everything we do—transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to curate unforgettable experiences by seamlessly blending diverse art forms with music, offering a platform for artists to showcase their work while fostering a vibrant, inclusive community. We are committed to delivering high-quality events that prioritize safety, recognition, and artistic expression.

Vision Statement:
We envision a dynamic space where the creative convergence of audio and visual arts sparks a culture of innovative, memorable experiences. Our commitment is to provide a safe, responsible environment where everyone can celebrate and connect through art and music.

Our Goal:
Leveraging the transformative power of music, we aim to cultivate a stronger sense of connection and belonging within the EDM community. By creating immersive experiences, we seek to unite individuals through shared passion, creativity, and a love for the music that brings us all together.

Founded in 2019 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ambient Alchemists is a women-owned and operated EDM promotion company. We specialize in curating bass-heavy events with a focus on dubstep, including sub-genres of dubstep such as deep dub, experimental dubstep and halftime. We also embrace artists who blend electronic music with live instruments—we have featured violin, saxophone, flute, drums, keyboard, and guitar in our productions creating a unique hybrid experience for our attendees.

Fueled by music and community we’re here to transform every gathering into an experience that lingers long after the lights fade.

Over the last six years, we’ve hosted more than 45 events, helping to grow and diversify the Pittsburgh EDM community. Our stages have featured an array of national and international talent—see below for a list of artists we’ve proudly worked with.

In addition, our contributions extend beyond booking headliner acts. We actively promote and showcase local and regional underground EDM talent, creating opportunities for emerging artists to perform in direct support roles. As a result of these efforts, we have secured opportunities to host takeovers that both highlight this talent and allow them to represent us at music festivals, including Big Dub, Lil Dub, and Deutschtown Music Festival.

Ambient Alchemists also has a history of hosting live-streams and virtual festivals with a range of artists. In 2020, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we kept the music alive by creating and hosting a weekly live stream called “Live Lab” for 19 consecutive weeks, featuring artists like Scales, EOS, and Lemondoza.

Bringing our events to life is a true collaborative effort. While each show starts with our creative vision, it’s the expertise and partnership of local small businesses that transform that vision into reality, delivering exceptional production value and outstanding sound quality. We take pride in working alongside talented professionals who share our commitment to excellence and innovation. At Ambient Alchemists, we believe collaboration fuels creativity, and we’re always eager to build new partnerships. If you’re interested in working together, we invite you to connect with us through the form on our CONNECT WITH US page.

At the core of Ambient Alchemists’ success is our dynamic promotional force—the Ambient Army Promo Team. This dedicated group of around 20 passionate individuals embodies our ethos of creativity, community, and innovation. Far exceeding the bounds of traditional street team work, they infuse every initiative with fresh ideas, infectious energy, and genuine commitment. Each member plays an integral role in amplifying our vision, forging meaningful connections with our audience, and bringing our events and brand to life. More than a team, they are true Ambient Alchemists, transforming inspiration into unforgettable experiences.

Why did we start Ambient Alchemists?
One of the main reasons we started Ambient Alchemists—beyond our deep love for music—was to create a safer, more inclusive space within our local community. We witnessed a time when women felt increasingly underrepresented, unsafe, or simply too exhausted to engage with a scene that had become overwhelmingly male-dominated and, at times, predatory. Rather than accept that as the norm, we felt a responsibility to shift the narrative. Through intentional event curation and promotion, we set out to foster a welcoming environment where everyone, especially women and marginalized voices, could feel seen, heard, and safe on and off the dancefloor.
